In this activity you will learn how to:

• use the LearningFast Interactive Learning Activities.

This is the LearningFast interactive learning activities module map.

It is from here that you select the learning activities you'd like to take, search for words, view your results, and much more.

At the top of the screen, you'll see the course you are currently viewing - in this case, 'Introduction to Computers'.

Many learning activities contain optional audio. If so, you'll see some options, indicated here, at the module map.

You select whether you'd like to incoporate audio in your learning here.

Across the top of the screen are the learning modules. In this case there are 4 modules. You select any of these modules to view the learning activities within this module.

Here the activities in the third module have been revealed.

Note that some activities have a small red arrow in their bottom right hand corner - this indicates that even more learning activities are available within this section.

In just a moment we'll see what happens when you select a learning activity - but before we do, lets have a look at some of the other options you have available on this module map.

Once you start learning, you can use the Results button to view your results - what you've learnt already, what scores you achieved, and how long you've spent.

Here we've selected the results button. You can see on an activity by activity basis what you've studied, and how you've gone.

This screen can be printed for a permanent record.

If you'd like to search for a word, words, or phrase, you use the 'Search' button.

You can enter a term at the top of the search screen, click on the 'Show Results' button, and all activities in the current course that contain this term are listed.

The 'About' button is used to determine the current version of the LearningFast course.

The 'Help' button is used load a HTML version of how the LearningFast activities work.

The 'Exit' button of course is used to close the module map and return to the LearningFast website.

As a quick guide to those activities you've already studied, you'll see some small icons at the bottom left of the activity boxes - these denote what you've stuided, and how.

OK - now you are ready to start learning. First, determine which activity you'd like to learn, and click on it - its that simple.

Here we'll click on the 'Computer Networks' activity.

After a brief load (which may take 5-30 seconds, depending on your Internet connection), this is what the first screen of a learning activity looks like.

First, you'll see the name of the activity you are learning.

You can move through most activities in a range of ways. If you select the 'Learn' option, you'll be asked to perform various tasks throughout the activity.

These tasks will not be compulsory in this mode - but provide a good way to practise your skills.

The 'Show' mode is a kind of 'sit back and watch' mode.

When you select this mode, you will be asked to select how fast the activity should run. From there, the activity runs by itself - all you have to do is watch.

Test, or Skill Assessment mode is where you will be assessed on your skills. You will be asked to perform certain tasks, and you will be scored on your performance.

You can ask for hints throughout the activity, but you will lose points each time you ask for a hint.

If you think you'd find it easier to print this activity out, and practise in the real software (for example, run Microsoft Word on your own computer, and try this activity using the real software), you use the Print button.

This will load a printable HTML version of this activity which you can then print via your browser.

Again, Help is available if you need help on how to use this activity.

The 'Exit' button will return you to the module map seen earlier in this activity.

In this case, let's assume the 'Learn' button has been selected to start this activity.

Once you start an activity, the software simulation begins. A floating text appears over the simulation providing instructions and various options.

Quite simply you follow the instructions in the text box. You'll be asked to perform certain actions, or to click on 'Next' to move on.

As you can, however, you can also move back to review a step, quit, or ignore the instructions and click on the 'Next' button to move on.

You will generally always see an arrow on screen. Red arrows indicate you are being asked to perform an action. Green arrows indicate that you are being shown some feature of the screen.

In Skill Assessment mode, you will not see any arrows - as you will be tested on whether you know how to perform the requested actions.

Whenever you see an Exit button, you'll be returned to this module map, where you select another learning activity.

Your results will always be recorded - so whenever you return to this module map for this course, it will retain all your results.
