After birth the young are hidden in long grass and shrubs for 2-3 weeks, and are attended by their mother for short periods of time. The calves are weaned at six months, and the young males leave the herd before becoming mature. Juvenile kudus are preyed upon by leopards, cheetahs, hyenas and wild dogs.
