About Quicktime
Almost all multimedia elements in WebsterWorld (movies and sounds) use the Apple Quicktime player. This is a free download, available from Apple.
On high bandwidth connections, these videos will be able to be played immediately. On slower connections, or modem connections, there may be a delay before the movie can be played.
Although in general these are not 'streaming' movies, the format we have selected provides much higher quality, particularly over lower bandwidths, than streaming videos can.
Quicktime Movies
If Quicktime is installed correctly on your computer, whenever you display a page that contains a movie, you'll see a Quicktime player like the illustration below.

At the bottom of the Quicktime player is the standard start, stop and pause commands. You'll have to click on the play button to start the movie or sound.
If, after starting the movie, it stops in mid-stream, this generally means that the movie is not fully downloaded yet. Check the loading indicator, just to the right of the play button - it indicates how much of the movie has currently been downloaded.
